With our North Carolina Raw Sourwood Honey headlining this set, our Single-varietal Raw Honey Sampler is a great way to taste the incredible differences that can be found in pure "mono-floral" honey. From the very-light and fruity Strawberry-Henbit to the dark and smooth Tulip Poplar, this sampler will open your eyes to remarkable flavor profiles found in single-varietal honeys.
A Primer on Single Varietal Honey
A single-varietal honey is very similar in concept to a varietal wine. For wines labeled as a certain varietal in the U.S., it means that the wine in a bottle contains at least 75% of a predominant grape source (note: in Europe and other parts of the world, this percentage is higher). A Pinot Noir, for example, is made using grapes from the species Vitis vinifera, a red wine grape originally from the Burdgundy region of France. Similarly, a varietal or “single-varietal” honey means the honey was produced from a predominant floral source.
OUR HIVES ARE: Located on North Carolina farms and forested areas that are not treated with pesticides and provide an abundance of biodiverse, natural resources. We don't chemically treat our hives due to our sustainable beekeeping practices and the hardiness of the Russian honeybee.
